Aldea means "village"
We chose the name Aldea because it reflects what we believe about caregiving: it takes a community of dedicated, compassionate people working together to truly care for someone. Our home on Aldea Avenue in Lake Balboa embodies that belief every day.
Aldea Senior Living is a licensed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) with just six beds. We made that choice intentionally. In a smaller home, caregivers don't just know residents by name — they know their favorite songs, how they take their coffee, and the stories they love to tell.
"In large facilities, residents are patients. At Aldea, they're family."
The small-home difference
Large assisted living facilities often house 50, 100, or even 200 residents. Staff are stretched thin. Residents become room numbers. The care is adequate, but rarely personal.
At Aldea, we take a different approach:
- 6 residents maximum — everyone receives genuine, individualized attention
- Consistent caregivers — the same trusted faces every day, building real relationships
- Home-cooked meals at a family table — not a cafeteria, not reheated trays
- Flexible routines — residents wake, eat, and socialize on their own schedule
- Active family involvement — we welcome visits, calls, and collaboration on care plans

The people behind Aldea
Aldea was founded by two people whose paths to caregiving could not have been more different, and whose commitment to it could not be more alike.
Talha Syed
Talha's path to Aldea started at home. He cared for his grandmother, and later his parents, and learned what that actually asks of a family. He learned residential care from the inside, mentored by his aunt, who operates several care homes of her own in southern California. Aldea is built so the next family doesn't have to figure it out alone.
Ryan Reams
Ryan came to caregiving the way many families do: by caring for his own father. That experience taught him firsthand what dignified, attentive care means to a family. His father's last wish was for Ryan to join Talha in building Aldea, a promise he honors in this home every day.
